FlowLine
A focused production and work-in-progress tracker for teams that need to know what is ready, what is moving through a station route and what is blocked by a missing component.
FlowLine is a real working system under continued development, not a concept mock-up. It is not currently presented here as a finished public product or public download. This page documents the working scope and the deliberate boundaries of the project.
Current product evidence
The working production flow
The gallery shows current application screens. FlowLine currently uses one interface palette, so the same authentic captures remain visible in both Viken Data themes.
Inspectable gallery
FlowLine in active development
Open four genuine screens from the working v1.4.6 application. FlowLine currently has one interface palette, so the product captures stay unchanged when the Viken Data theme switches.
Implemented scope
Production state that follows the route.
FlowLine models work as projects and parts moving through ordered production steps. Quantities are transferred between real buffers instead of being maintained as unrelated counters.
Projects, parts and routes
Administrators define projects, individual parts and ordered station routes, with optional finished-part dimensions and separate images for projects and parts.
Transactional WIP
A later step cannot consume more than the preceding step produced. The final step adds finished units while preserving an auditable production history.
Internal assemblies
Project-internal component requirements form a cycle-free assembly graph. Starting an assembly checks and allocates the required ready component output atomically.
Ready work and inventory status
Operators can see eligible station work, shortages and the distinction between units in production, finished, allocated, removed from stock and ready to use.
Finished-stock dispatch
An optional dispatch hand-off records finished units leaving ready stock without rewriting the cumulative production total or pretending to be another route step.
Revisions and correction history
Production-backed definitions are not silently rewritten. Forward project revisions, append-only reversals, role checks and audit records retain the meaning of earlier work.
Operational model
Built around the shop-floor question: what can move next?
The application separates administrative setup from fast operator work while keeping production, stock movement and corrections traceable.
Scope and limitations
A production tracker, deliberately not an ERP.
The narrow boundary is part of the design. FlowLine is meant to clarify production state, not absorb every business process surrounding it.
Outside the product boundary
Purchasing, suppliers, costing, sales, finance, payroll, MRP and general warehouse management are not FlowLine modules.
Current deployment boundary
The standalone Windows package is loopback-only and intended for one workstation. A separate, properly certified LAN edition remains future work rather than a rebinding shortcut.
Current product status
The working application continues to be refined. This page does not promise public availability, a delivery date or suitability for an unreviewed production environment.
Development status
Working foundations, visible constraints.
The current line includes the production model, operator and administrator workflows, audit history, a portable local package and a PostgreSQL reference installation. Continued work is focused on refinement and a responsibly defined delivery boundary.
FlowLine is also an example of how Viken Data approaches custom software development: begin with the job, encode the rules that protect it, and make omissions explicit before adding another module. A commissioned application has its own agreed requirements; this project's current scope is not a promise of a ready-made deployment.
